For many years we attended the London Wine Fair wearing different hats: as an importer, as the generic body for Wines of Portugal and Wines of Brasil, and as the creators of Esoterica. We say how brilliantly Esoterica worked for visitors being a focussed area for small importers to exhibit. At the same time we saw this was not the case for all wine producers: those without distributors were often lost in the Fair and not receiving the attention from buyers that they deserved. One evening, in the back of taxi, Ana had the eureka moment to create a focussed, supported and easy-to-exhibit area for these producers and Wines Unearthed was conceived!
With the support of Ross Carter, the Wines Unearthed area at The London Wine Fair was launched in 2015 and it’s gone from strength to strength ever since.
Wines Unearthed has now expanded to other areas of the world but the ethos remains the same: to create a hub for producers looking for distribution. Producers are no longer ‘lost’ inside the Fair, everything they need to exhibit is provided, they have the Wines Unearthed team to help and support their participation and all exhibitors have to do is get themselves and their wines or spirits to the Fair.
As well as the reference to the earth inside the word, unearthed also means: To find (something) in the ground to find something that was hidden or covered: to find something, especially information, often after careful searching

“One of the biggest challenges facing small wine producers looking for new export markets lies in how to get the most out of their participation in a trade fair. In 2015, two women, one from Britain, the other from Portugal, decided to address this problem . . . by creating a dedicated area for these companies” Read more: Here
“People have come to expect exciting things from the Wines Unearthed section of the London Wine Fair, yet don’t fully realise what goes on behind the scenes to make this happen. The sheer amount of hand-holding and support given to each individual producer is impressive and feels ‘personal’. There’s a sort of joy about it.” Read More: Here
